The Difference Between a Beautiful Villa and the Right Villa
and to help you understand the difference.
What Our Villas Are — And Aren't
Have you noticed the latest wellness craze?
Apparently, our lives have gotten too comfortable. So now people are paying to make them uncomfortable.
Fasting. Cold plunges. 105-degree hot yoga. Marathons. Triathlons. Ultramarathons. All very . . . invigorating.
But here’s the thing.
The goal isn’t to test yourself. It’s to spend meaningful time together.
While some people choose discomfort on purpose, we believe special-occasion trips should create space — for conversations, for laughter, for shared meals, and for unhurried time together.
Connection doesn’t come from pushing harder. It comes from being present. Our hand-selected villas are not built for hormetic stressors.
They’re cushy. With comfy beds. Gorgeous gardens. Spectacular views. Fully equipped kitchens. Home cinemas and game rooms.
You may have to tolerate lounging by a private pool or sipping Prosecco in a jacuzzi.
Consider yourself warned.
If you’re committed to the hormetic lifestyle, you can always:
- Do burpees in the private gym
- Meditate at sunrise on the balcony
- Fast while everyone else enjoys the private chef's spectacular meals
- Walk to town instead of using the car
And if you absolutely must have your cold plunge, your concierge can pull cubes from the ice machine and draw you a bath.
We recommend saving the ice for cocktails.
How We Think About Villas
Two villas can have identical layouts, similar reviews, and comparable prices — and deliver completely different emotional experiences.
One feels like a home. The other feels like a rental.
One brings people together naturally. The other just houses them.
The difference isn’t always visible in the photos. It’s in how the spaces flow, how the light falls in the evening, whether the outdoor dining area invites long dinners or discourages them, whether the kitchen is a place people naturally gather or simply a room with appliances.
It’s also in what surrounds the property. A villa can be stunning on the inside and situated on a busy road, next to a noisy neighbor, or at the top of 53 steps that seemed charming in the listing and treacherous in person.
We’ve seen all of it. And we’ve walked away from plenty of beautiful villas because beautiful wasn’t enough.
Our job is to find the ones where everything works — not just for a photoshoot, but for your group, your occasion, and the kind of time together you’re trying to create.
What We Refuse to Recommend
- The setting doesn't deliver what the photos promise
- The spaces don't genuinely support a group your size
- Something feels off — even if we can't immediately explain why. (Experience builds instinct. And instinct has saved more than a few trips.)
- Accessibility is a problem for any member of your group
- The property is beautiful but poorly managed
What We Help You Avoid
You can research endlessly online. You can read every review, study every photo, and still not know what you’re actually getting until you open the front door.
Our clients don’t open that door with one eye closed.
They arrive knowing the villa has been vetted beyond the photos — by our team and by trusted
specialists who have personally inspected the property.
No surprises. No disappointments. No wasted vacation time trying to make the best of a situation
that should never have happened.
